![]() A note from Bentin's foster mom: Benny has fit in wonderfully to my pack of 7, 4 pups and 3 kitties. He is a shy pup and once he trusts you will protect him he will be your favorite and faithful boy forever. He will make a wonderful addition to some lucky people who can handle a big and playful pup who needs all your attention and lots of exercise to keep his mind active. At one month, he weighed 2.2 kilos and he continues to GROW! His mom weighs about 22 kilos and we would expect him to be about the same size (or maybe a bit bigger). They are a lucky group to have been born in a wonderful foster home where Jenny & Lili did such a great job supporting Barbara and helping the puppies. We are hopeful that the remaining 8 will survive (Maroma, Makoki, Diva, Frida, Nova, Camilla, BamBam and Mozart). One died almost immediately, 2 passed away in the first 2 days and then another 2 died around days 10-12. ![]() Please share her story so that we can find her a foster and eventually a forever family that will love and value her.īarbara started to deliver her puppies on February 10, 2012. Despite her experience, she loves people, does well with other dogs and is a gentle girl. We are hoping to find her a wonderful foster home in Puerto Vallarta where she can continue to heal. She is safe, she is getting healthy, and she will never again be discarded. Bella is now at a vet clinic receiving the medical care and attention she needs. She is an older dog (likely 8-9 years), is larger (about 25 kilos), and has had a tough life (look at the horrible ear crop that she suffered). Bella was more than happy to be taken in by loving people. They visited the dog in order to gain her trust, a plan was made, and then the rescue day arrived. Children are the future, and those that choose compassion & care need to be celebrated. Not only was the story heartbreaking, but Michelle also wanted to support this child. Fortunately, one of her teachers is a big animal rescuer/advocate, so Rebecca made a plea to Ms. She started talking to adults to try and figure out what she could do for the dog. When her neighbors kicked their dog out on the street, she took notice and worried about the dog. Rebecca is a young girl with a big heart. Rico, I think you have found the perfect home!! Thank you Julie and Hector for opening your hearts to this wonderful pup! Keep us updated on all his adventures… we love to hear from our MexPup Alumni! Even if we try to reinforce Rico sleeping in his own bed, he usually sneaks onto our bed when we are deep asleep. During the first 2 weeks, Rico slept in his own bed. So he surprises and scares us at times when we are not expecting him to be there. Rico is a very light on his feet and he likes to follow his Mom and Dad around from behind. Not only was Rico attentive, he was also responding to how the dogs were behaving in the video. To their surprise, Rico was able to focus on the video for over ten minutes. One day, Hector decided to play YouTube videos of dogs playing and barking on TV. Rico likes to watch TV briefly whenever there's an animal on television. ![]() So, he sat beside Julie’s father in-law's chair throughout the entire dinner staring at my father in-law all the while moaning and raising his paw. He didn't want to eat his food and wanted to share their food. They took Rico with them to a family dinner for Chinese New Year. Now if he wants a treat, he will raise his left paw and keep it off the ground for several seconds until he gets noticed. To reinforce this, Julie and Hector usually give Rico a treat for his performance. Rico mastered the “hand shaking” trick in less than three weeks. Rico has learned to anticipate Hector’s arrival and is very vigilant to any noise while he waits patiently. Around 7 PM, Rico will remind Julie it is dinner time if she has forgotten! Hector usually leaves for his marital arts training after work and returns home around 9 PM. In the morning while they are getting ready to leave for work, Rico quietly whines and moans knowing that they will soon be leaving. Julie and Hector are amazed at Rico’s amazing sense of time. They describe him as smart, quiet, affectionate and calm. While there were a few accidents in the beginning, a consistent structure for Rico has helped him adapt very quickly to his new home. Julie and Hector adopted Rico is the last days of 2013. ![]()
